Safer Internet Day

Today is Safer Internet Day! The theme for this year is “Play your part for a better internet!” and provides an opportunity for schools to make the most of the positive opportunities offered online, whilst giving young people the resilience, skills, knowledge and support they need to navigate any online risks they may come across.

Coordinated in the UK by the UK Safer Internet Centre, the celebration sees hundreds of organisations get involved to help promote the safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology for children and young people.

The day offers the opportunity to highlight positive uses of technology and to explore the role we all play in helping to create a better and safer online community. It calls upon young people, parents, carers, teachers, social workers, law enforcement, companies and policymakers to join together in helping to create a better internet. This afternoon Y9-14 attended an Assembly held my Mr Mohammad who explained the benefits and pitfalls of the internet to our students. This was an extremely informative and interesting session which our pupils really engaged with and learned something new about the usage of the internet.

Ultimately, a better internet is up to us!
