Riverston School Admissions
Students can commence their education at Riverston School at any point during the school year or term providing there is sufficient space within the classroom or Year group. Parents are encouraged to come and visit the school during one of our weekly Open Mornings held every Tuesday in term time or on our Saturday Open Days held in November and March.
Following an informal meeting between the parents, Headmistress and the Senior Masters and Mistresses of the school, pupils who wish to be considered for a place at Riverston are required to spend a 2 or 3 day trial period at the school during which time a decision will be made whether or not a place will be offered. The Registration Form needs to be completed and the Registration fee is payable at this point.
Prospective pupils are made to feel very welcome during their the trial period and are “buddied” with a volunteer pupil who will support them during their stay. After the trial period a decision is made as to whether or not we are able to fully meet the needs of the pupil. Parents will be given detailed feedback of the trial period by the Form Teacher and senior staff members. Once a place is offered, a pupil may start as soon as the Acceptance Fee and first term’s fees are paid in full.
Entrance to Riverston Plus, a provision we offer for pupils with learning difficulties, follows a slightly different method of assessment and trial period. Please refer to the Riverston Plus Admissions section and find out more by clicking on the Riverston Plus button. Here you will find a short film about what we have to offer.
Several students at Riverston have relocated with their families from many different countries around the world. We have welcomed students from Europe, the Far East and The United States of America and all have settled in quickly to our caring and friendly school. Some students from foreign countries have started at Riverston with very little knowledge and understanding of our English language but have made rapid progress due to the fact that we have a multi-national and multi-cultural staff and pupil body.
